The German television production company Rowboat (www.rowboat.tv) has a new website delivered on October 2010 by SPEL and Next Friday Design, a New York based design firm developing projects on the web in partnership with SPEL.
The project runs over the excellent Drupal content management system (CMS), taking advantage of its internationalization features, which simplified the process of adapting the content from German into English. Drupal and its modules (extensions) allow the website content to be published in a number of languages specified by the administrator. The content in each language is linked to its corresponding translation, empowering the user with directly access to a certain content translation of the active page just by clicking the translate button.
The website features a flash splash page that loads when the flash plugin is enabled on the computer. Since flash isn’t supported on the iPhone, the website loads an alternative non-animated screen in those cases, allowing users to navigate the content normally. The website features the members of the Rowboat, the company and its projects, and also provides news and contact information.
